News Cycle

A mechanism consisting of a computer, printer and paper shredder. The White House website is constantly monitored for new press releases. When a new press release appears, it is downloaded and printed and immediately shredded. The mechanism is moved every day in a pattern corresponding to a traditional calendar. As the project progresses, a three-dimensional map of the White House press cycle is laid out in the gallery.

Echo Wall

A web application that allows users to chat across time. The user to submits a short message. The message appears center screen and over the course of an hour moves off screen at an angle corresponding to the second it was submitted (0:15 – moves to the right, 0:30 moves to the bottom, etc.). Messages return at the same time over the next week, following their original path across the screen but with progressively decreased opacity (the words fade over a week). This sets up an environment where users can respond to messages from the present and the past. (Demo)
